Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge Cycling Loops

Over 50 miles of country roads make for a great cycling experience in and around Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge. Starting from the Blackwater Visitor Center, three cycling loops that follow flat, low traffic roads are perfect for cyclists of all abilities.

A 7.5-mile route passes through the refuge's Wildlife Drive and several types of wildlife-rich habitat.

A 20-mile route utilizes Rt. 335, Rt. 16 and Maple Dam road as it passes through some of Dorchester County's best farmland.

Finally, the 25-mile route utilizes Shorter's Wharf Rd, Rt. 336, and Rt. 335 as it traverses both publicly and privately-owned tidal marshes, woodlands, and small communities.

A map of the routes is available at the Blackwater NWR Visitor Center and the Blackwater NWR web site.
